| | April-May 20176EditorialThe ongoing transformation in K12 education is centered around one theme today--preparing students for the future tech-based workforce. There are multiple angles to this transformation, from incorporating blended, personalized, and student driven learning programs to making sure that students are using technology as they might, in the real world. There are multiple benefits to this transformation. For instance, sophisticated learning tools will empower teachers to tailor personalized pathways of learning to close the gaps in student learning. Also, the student-oriented curriculum and teaching methodologies will take into consideration a student's learning capabilities, which was not possible with traditional methods. Technology is also bringing forth new learning models to significantly improve student performance. Developments such as 3D printing and virtual reality are at the forefront of this. For instance, students can build, model and print a building while bringing their innovative ideas to life. The immersive power of virtual and augmented reality or classroom gamification will facilitate fun filled experiential learning outcomes. Virtual reality holds a great promise in this arena, by helping students observe and learn procedures in various disciplines such as medicine and industrial design and visit digital destinations without leaving the classroom. With innovative technologies transforming the educational experiences and altering the trajectory of student's learning and lives, our aim with this special edition is to help spread light into the most benefitting methodologies and techniques in this arena. This edition blends insightful articles from thought leaders in the space with stories on what the selected vendors are doing for their clients.Let us know your thoughts.Future Proofing the K12 Copyright © 2017 ValleyMedia Inc., All rights reserved.
