Education Coupled with eLearning

Education Technology Insights | Thursday, July 05, 2018

Gone are the days of the good old chalk and board teaching where a mentor would take students on an exploration. Now, technology takes up those explorations where mentors merely guide students on the ‘path to be taken.’ Though debatable, this advancement has its fair share of pros and cons, and the popular opinion is that the pros outweigh the cons, delivering a faster and effective way of learning for the students.

The classroom has evolved into a digital arena of learning where the technology catalyzes the educational experience for the students. Innovative strategies delivered through augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) empower students to visualize concepts with immersive narratives and graphical representations. A biology classroom, which would traditionally be filled with drawings and sketches, is now enhanced through 3D simulations and illustration. Chatbots and virtual assistants guide the viewer as the narrative explains various features and functionalities of organs. Students are motivated to dwell deeper into the knowledge pool and reap the rewards of gamification, which allows them to earn credits and points. On the mentoring or teaching side, schools and colleges derive key metrics such as progressive assessments and SWOT analysis to help students step over their respective grey areas and collaboratively work with teachers to learn the discussed concepts more effectively. All these genres of technology make education an interesting element of students’ life rather than a monotonous daily routine
