ETS, the inventor of tests like the GRE and Praxis Series, will invest $2 million in capital to education start-ups through one of the longest-running EdTech accelerators. LearnLaunch Accelerator will manage the day-to-day operations of the ETS Accelerate program, according to statements.
FREMONT, CA: After a fruitful year collaborating with LearnLaunch as an investor, ETS is has gained $2 million in investment capital to support education start-ups. The company will be utilizing the funds received from a sponsored accelerator to accept applications from organizations that provide tools and services to train learners with skills for the English language for the future economy.
ETS is involved with developing advance quality in education for people throughout the world by creating assessments based on rigorous research. It serves individuals, students, educational institutions, and government agencies by providing customized solutions for education. Teacher certification, English language learning, and conducting education research are the advance quality diagnoses that ETS delivers in the field of teaching.
The new accelerator program will be theme-based, providing concentrated resources and values to organizations and students alike. The themes center on critical issues in education and allow for focused resources and programming from ETS and LearnLaunch. Enterprises applying to this first cohort should be addressing “English Language Learning,” “Skills for a New Economy,” or both.
The reason for ETS creating an accelerator is to leverage its education research and measurement abilities around having a more significant impact and reach into education. LearnLaunch’s EdTech accelerator space, combined with ETS’s depth and breadth of expertise in education measurement, will provide an advantage to entrepreneurs.
The collaboration enables both the organizations to mentor and fund promising start-ups to advance equity in education and improve their efficiency around solving academic challenges. Moreover, the cohort will substantially increase the resources that start-ups selected by ETS Accelerate to help them reach their growth goals. Specifically, ETS is providing start-ups participating in the program with monetary support, vast industry expertise, in-kind services (including the opportunity for subsequent funding), and access to additional resources.
