Weehawken, NJ: Konica Minolta, a provider of enterprise content management, technology optimization and cloud services, collaborates with Weehawken Public School to support installation of a state-of-the art STEAM lab by providing 3D printers.
A state-of-the-art STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) Lab is going to be established at Weehawken High School. The lab is equipped with three new 3D printers provided by Minolta. In addition, the lab comprises hardware items including four desktop computers, sixteen laptops and an interactive SmartBoard. Recognizing the demands of the new global economy, these changes will give Weehawken’s students an edge while making the school system competitive.

The lab will offer four sections of STEAM education for students in grades 9-12 and an introductory STEAM course for eighth graders. This curriculum, which integrates engineering and technology with core academic knowledge in science, technology, engineering, arts and math, will allow students to work collaboratively to solve problems and create solutions with the help of new technology.
“The new education foundation, spearheaded by Mayor Richard Turner and operated as a joint partnership between local parents and the Board of Education, has made it possible to develop a cutting edge technology and arts center. We are starting out with a bang in the foundation’s first bequest of the STEAM Lab, but it’s just the first of many towards our goal of making the Weehawken school system the finest in the country,” says Richard Barsa, President, Weehawken Board of Education.
